Visualizing Freedom: A Deep Dive into the Mission Behind Passport & Co.

As a branding photographer in Scotch Plains, NJ, I am constantly privileged to meet entrepreneurs who aren’t just launching businesses; they are building movements. They are individuals who looked at the standard ways of working, decided it wasn’t enough, and dared to create the change they wanted to see.
I first met Shanice when she booked my Mini Headshot Day in March of 2025. We captured some amazing images of her and she shared a little bit of her story with me. She was working in a hybrid situation and facing burnout.
When Shanice contacted me again less than a year later looking for updated headshots, I could immediately sense a change. She was refreshed and excited because she was building something POWERFUL. Her own business. I knew her professional branding headshots needed to capture more than just her smile. They needed to convey her deep intentionality, her calm defiance of hustle culture, and her unwavering focus on personal freedom.
Today, I’m thrilled to step behind the scenes of her incredible brand, Passport & Co., and share her journey from severe burnout to building a “freedom-first” virtual coworking space.
The “Aha” Moment: From Burnout to Breakthrough
Like many modern professionals, Shanice valued flexibility. But she quickly found that remote work, despite its perks, can often feel isolating and overwhelming.
“I faced severe burnout last year,” she shared. “That made me think there has to be a more innovative way to navigate the work week. I knew two things: I wanted to work fully remote, and I wanted to find ways to work and not burnout along the way.”
She realized that the missing piece in the remote landscape was community. A virtual space where people could have flexibility without sacrificing human connection and clear boundaries between work and rest.

Introducing Passport & Co.: A Mental Oasis for those who understand remote work culture
The story behind the brand name itself reveals its powerful mission. Passport & Co. was born from a time when Shanice couldn’t travel but desperately missed the “exhale” that comes with a getaway. Feeling the burnout from hybrid and remote work that can feel isolating and lonely.
“It made me question why rest, clarity, and relief are often tied only to PTO or getting away. As if those moments are the only time we’re allowed to breathe,” she explains.
And her solution? To create a mental and emotional “passport” you can access without ever leaving your desk. Passport & Co. is a pressure-free virtual coworking space where members can cowork, connect, and prioritize wellness on their own terms. It helps those in remote work culture feel supported, balanced, and less alone, without taking away the essential freedom of working remotely.
Visualizing the “Freedom-First” Mindset
As a branding photographer in Scotch Plains NJ, my challenge was translating this beautiful, intentional vision into visual assets that felt alive.
Passport & Co. is an experience-driven platform. The imagery and layout had to clearly communicate what the space feels like—not just what it offers. My goal during our session was to ensure that the visuals perfectly aligned with the mission: freedom, movement, and a revolutionary approach to everyday work life. And of course colors that would represent the Passport & Co. Brand!
We worked to capture a balance between professional capability and personal ease. The very essence of what it means to be a modern, intentional founder.

Redefining Success (and Work Culture)
For Shanice, the journey of building Passport & Co. has shifted her own definition of success. At first, it meant perfection—having everything polished before moving forward.
And now, she says, “Success looks like freedom. The freedom to build in real-time, to listen to the community, to rest without guilt, and to create something that supports life instead of consuming it.”
But she is now committed to helping break down the rigid barriers of American work culture. “I hope to redefine how work fits into our lives. Not the other way around,” she shares. “I want to normalize a future where balance, rest, and choice are not rewards, but the standard.” Shanice is creating a new remote work culture where connection is not lost.
