Dating Profile Photos in Asbury Park NJ | Beach & Boardwalk Session with J

There’s something magical about Asbury Park in the off-season. The quiet hum of the boardwalk, the smell of the ocean, and the cozy buzz of local coffee shops make it the perfect setting for a relaxed, genuine portrait session. Last December, I met J* for his dating profile photo session, and from the moment we started at Café Volan, I knew it was going to be something special.

We began our morning sipping coffee and chatting about his life — from his love of the beach to his adventures traveling and serving in the military. As the conversation flowed, so did the photos. The goal of every dating profile session I shoot is to bring out authenticity. J* wasn’t just looking for great photos; he wanted portraits that reflected who he really is — approachable, confident, and grounded.

Exploring the Heart of Asbury Park

After warming up at Café Volan, we wandered down to the Asbury Park boardwalk. Even in winter, the light along the coast has a soft golden warmth that makes every frame feel timeless. We stopped by the old carousel building, a spot that holds both history and texture — perfect for portraits that feel modern but have soul.

As we walked, J* talked about what brings him joy: spending time with family, friends, and his dog, Murphy. “It’s the simple things,” he said, and that energy really came through in the photos. Every smile felt real, every moment unforced. The boardwalk murals, beach views, and ocean breeze all added to the relaxed vibe that makes dating photos in Asbury Park so special.

Getting to Know J*

J* lives by the beach in LBI and says it’s his “happy place.” He loves being outdoors — golfing, going to the gym, and spending time on the sand. When he’s not near the water, he enjoys traveling and experiencing new cultures. His dream is to continue serving the community through civil service after his military career, a reflection of his dedication and selflessness.

When asked about his ideal date, J* said he’s all about living in the moment. Whether it’s dinner and drinks or something spontaneous like indoor skydiving or parasailing, he enjoys experiences that are fun and memorable.

He’s also a big music fan, describing himself as a “sucker for country and classic rock.” A true ’90s kid, his playlist is filled with nostalgic hits that perfectly fit a drive down the coast. His favorite movie, Good Will Hunting, and the quote that inspires him —

“Some people can read War and Peace and come away thinking it’s a simple adventure story. Others can read the ingredients on a chewing gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe.”
— say a lot about his outlook on life: thoughtful, curious, and open-minded.

Capturing Authentic Dating Profile Photos

The best dating profile photos are the ones that feel genuine. It’s not about posing perfectly or trying too hard — it’s about being yourself. That’s why I love photographing sessions like this one. As we moved from the café to the carousel to the beach, J*’s confidence grew with every shot.

He laughed easily, leaned into the wind, and let the natural environment guide his energy. These are the kinds of moments that make great dating portraits — they show the real person behind the profile. For J*, that meant capturing his adventurous spirit, his loyalty, and his easygoing nature.

I always tell clients that professional online dating photos are more than just pictures. They’re an investment in how you present yourself to the world. A few authentic images can say so much more than words in your profile ever could.

Why Asbury Park Is Perfect for Dating Photo Sessions

Asbury Park has such a diverse backdrop — from its trendy coffee shops and art-filled walls to its classic boardwalk charm. Whether you want something edgy, romantic, or beachy, it has it all. The town’s laid-back vibe helps people relax in front of the camera, which is key to capturing natural expressions.

The oceanfront adds a touch of calm, while places like the old carousel or Convention Hall bring character and texture. For J*, we blended both — relaxed shots by the beach and more urban-style portraits by the historic buildings. The result was a gallery that felt complete: real, stylish, and true to him.

A Few Fun Facts About J*

  • 🏖 Favorite place: The beach — always.
  • 🐶 Best buddy: His bull terrier, Murphy.
  • 🎵 Music taste: Country and classic rock.
  • 🎥 Favorite movie: Good Will Hunting.
  • 🥃 Can’t live without: A good whiskey and a grill night.
  • 🎯 Unique talent: He claims to be unbeatable at cards and Mario Kart — and honestly, I believe him.

Why You Should Invest in Dating Photos

If you’re considering a dating profile session, here’s the truth: great photos can make a huge difference. They show confidence, approachability, and personality — all qualities people connect with instantly. A professional session ensures your images are well-lit, flattering, and reflect who you are naturally.

Whether you’re updating your dating apps or just want portraits that make you feel great, it’s one of the best investments you can make! J*’s session is the perfect example of how powerful authentic imagery can be.

How Professional Dating Profile Photos in Morristown, NJ Can Help You Stand Out

Do professional photos improve your online dating profile? The short answer is YES!

In today’s world of online dating, first impressions are often, if not ALWAYS, made through a photo. Your dating profile photo is more than just a snapshot — it’s an introduction to who you are and what you’re looking for. That’s why professional dating profile photos can truly make you stand out, show that you’re serious about finding a partner, and reflect your personality.

I had the pleasure of working with Josh, a private pilot with a passion for astronomy, board games, and rock/metal music, during a recent dating profile session at LOKL Cafe in Morristown, NJ. During our session, we discussed how important it is to present yourself authentically in your photos, and how high-quality images can give you the edge in a crowded dating market.

Why High-Quality Photos Matter for Your Dating Profile

Josh understands the significance of making a great first impression, both in person and online. When asked about his ideal date, he shared that it’s all about “good food, conversation, and a relaxed vibe.” A great dating profile photo should do the same — show potential partners that you’re approachable, confident, and looking forward to getting to know someone.

Josh also emphasized that communication, empathy, and kindness are the three most important traits he looks for in a partner. A professional photo can help convey those qualities even before you start a conversation. It’s about showcasing your genuine self, not just a filtered image.

His relaxed and authentic demeanor really shines through in these photos. As Josh mentioned, he feels most “happy” when he’s with friends or enjoying a good game — a feeling we captured in the candid, fun shots during our session.

Showing You’re Serious About Dating

Having high-quality photos in your profile signals to potential partners that you’re taking dating seriously. It tells them that you’ve put thought into your profile and are ready for meaningful connections. For Josh, this wasn’t just about taking pretty pictures — it was about creating a visual story that reflected his personality, passions, and what he’s seeking in a partner.

Whether you’re into rock concerts, sports, or simply enjoy a relaxing evening with friends (like Josh), professional photos help communicate that you’re someone who is real, thoughtful, and ready to find someone special.

Conclusion: How Professional Photos Can Help You Stand Out

As Josh’s experience shows, high-quality photos can elevate your dating profile and help you attract people who resonate with your personality and values. Whether you’re passionate about music, sports, or quiet moments in nature, a great photo session can convey the essence of who you are. When you take the time to create an authentic and polished profile, you’re more likely to connect with someone who’s looking for exactly what you have to offer.

If you’re ready to stand out and show you’re serious about dating, book a professional profile session with me today — just like Josh did in Morristown, NJ. Let’s create photos that truly represent you and help you make the best first impression. For more information, click here!

Capturing Authenticity: A Dating Photo Session with an Outdoor Enthusiast

As a photographer, there’s nothing quite like the opportunity to capture the genuine essence of someone through my lens. Recently, I had the pleasure of doing a dating photo session with a young man named Febin, whose passion for the great outdoors is both inspiring and infectious. This session was not just about taking pictures; it was about telling Febin’s story, his love for nature, and his vision for a future partner.

Meet Febin: An Adventurous Spirit

Febin is the epitome of an outdoor enthusiast. His weekends are spent hiking through rugged trails, casting lines in serene fishing spots, and soaking up the tranquility of nature. For Febin, the outdoors isn’t just a hobby—it’s a lifestyle. This passion for adventure is something he hopes to share with a partner who values the same zest for life.

The Setting: Embracing Nature’s Beauty

To truly capture Febin’s essence, we chose a location that mirrors his love for nature, but also a bit of city. The backdrop of towering trees, the gentle rustle of leaves, and the glistening water provided the perfect setting for our session.

Capturing Compatibility in Dating Photos

One of the key things Febin is looking for in a partner is compatibility. Someone who he can share his interests with. We started with shots of Febin in his element, hiking along a scenic trail, his expression one of contentment and peace. These dating photos weren’t just about showing Febin enjoying an activity; they were about capturing the type of environment where he feels most himself and hopes to share with someone special.

Seeking a Long-Term Connection

Febin’s desire for a long-term relationship and eventually starting a family was another critical aspect to convey. We aimed to capture the moments that reflect his nurturing and thoughtful side. In a particularly poignant shot, Febin is sitting atop a tree stump. The calm and reflective nature of this image speaks to his desire for stability, a deep connection, and his vision of sharing peaceful moments with a future partner.

To further emphasize this, we captured Febin in a series of more intimate, candid shots—him enjoying a coffee in a picturesque coffe shop. These images tell a story of a man who is ready to settle down and build a future filled with love, respect, and mutual goals.

Emphasizing Physical Compatibility

Physical compatibility is essential for Febin, not just for shared activities but for overall lifestyle synergy.

Conclusion: A Journey Through the Lens

Photographing Febin was an enriching experience. Through my lens, I aimed to encapsulate not just his love for the outdoors, but also his hopes and dreams for a future partner. The images we created together tell a story of a man who is genuine, adventurous, and ready for a lasting connection.

This session reminded me of the power of photography—not just to capture a moment, but to tell a story, to dream, and to inspire. For Febin, these dating photos are more than just a profile; they are a glimpse into his world, his passions, and his heart.

If you’re interested in capturing your own story or showcasing your unique personality in a dating profile, feel free to reach out. Let’s create something beautiful together.

By sharing Febin’s story and vision, we hope to connect him with someone who not only shares his interests but also his values and dreams for the future. See more dating profile sessions here.

Dating Photos and Puppy Love

Lisa reached out to me when she stumbled upon my first dating blog post about ME! When she emailed me I happened to be sitting on my computer and I immediately saw the notification. She basically said she felt like she was reading about her own life. I LOVE THAT! I mean not that I am happy that anyone goes through a divorce and then ends up in this weird online dating internet world, but that she found me relatable. That she connected with what I shared.

We chatted for a little bit about our lives and similarities. Lisa has 2 dogs and cat (I have 1 dog and a cat) and how they get along (or don’t LOL) And ultimately what it’s like booking an online dating photo session with me. And she was in.

“Have fun storming the castle”

As per usual, I sent Lisa my online dating photos questionnaire. I really love these questionnaires because it gives me a little insight about the person I am meeting and I think it gets them into a good mindset about what THEY are looking for and what THEY like. Sometimes with online dating we tend to start thinking about what other people are looking for and how we can craft our profile to attract what THEY want. But listen, that is NOT how to do it. You need to attract what YOU want into your life! So flip that script! Here is a little bit from Lisa’s questionnaire:

What brings you joy?

My pets, PBS Masterpiece Theater programs, my home (I live on a lake!), and hiking in the woods.

What kind of music do you like?  Do you have a favorite band or concert you’ve been to?

I like music of all kinds. lately, I have been listening a lot to Amos Lee.

What are the 3 most important things you’re looking for in a partner?

Confidence, strength, integrity, health-conscious, etc.

To thine own self be true

I’m pretty sure that Lisa has a good handle on who she is. She knows herself, she is successful and confident and she has a pretty awesome life. She’s just missing that one thing. And honestly, I don’t think she thinks that she is “missing” anything. She just is open to finding the person that adds to her life. Someone she can go hiking with, watch Philly sports teams with, watch sunsets on the lake with. She would like to meet that person that can grow old alongside her with. And I’m pretty sure they’d be pretty lucky to find her too! As I was editing her online dating photos I realized that she looks like a mixture of Nicole Kidman and Meg Ryan! What do you think?

Lisa I had so much fun with you. I can’t wait to hear how your story unfolds!

AS YOUUUUU WISSSSHHHHHHHH!!!

Here are some of Lisa’s online dating photos from our session.

Dating Photos with Karen!

Karen reached out to me online when she came across my information for dating photos. There was no hesitation in her booking me. She was sure from the get go and as soon as I sent her my booking information, she hopped right on it and booked! I love that! Not only did she know what she wanted, but she put her trust in me immediately. That really made me so happy!

We met at my new favorite spot, Hatch 44, where I have been meeting lots of my clients at lately. There is so much I love about it. The food and drinks are amazing, the staff is so friendly and accomodating, and the atmosphere is buzzing with good energy. And the ambiance aint too shabby either ;). We sat and sipped on some tea and coffee and put in our orders for empanadas (HIGHLY RECOMMEND)! As we enjoyed our food and drink we talked a little bit about our experiences with dating, our interests, and occupations. I really enjoyed meeting up with Karen and I had a great time roaming around Metuchen while we got some good quality dating photos for Karen’s dating profile.

Is Tinder a 4 letter word in the dating world?

I have this conversation probably with every dating profile client I work with. When I first got into the online dating scene I was dead set against using Tinder. I had my own preconceived notions of what Tinder was all about and who was using it. Not to mention WHAT they were using it for. Random hookups, no commitments, blah blah blah. No thanks!

But I am someone who really truly believes in not having limiting beliefs. For having a positive mindset. For thinking outside of the box. And what I was doing was creating a limiting belief system and it was downright negative! And while I may have had to “kiss” a few toads to find my prince, I found him…on tinder :). I tell this story to my clients so they can reflect on their own choices and approach to online dating. And I shared this with Karen. We can really use any of these apps however we choose to! And that’s how you make them work!

I loved the answers that Karen provided on her dating photo questionnaire (something I have all of my clients complete when they book). Here are a few of the ones that really stood out to me:

Favorite movie/movie quote?

“Yes, the past can hurt. But you can either run from it or learn from it.” -Rafiki from Lion King

What kind of music do you like?  Do you have a favorite band or concert you’ve been to?

My favorite band is Ghost, which I am very passionate about. I listen to all music but my favorites are rock and metal. I am open to new band interests always.

If you could have any job, what would it be?

I am currently in graduate school for my Masters of Occupational Therapy. My dream job is to use this education creatively to teach children to grow up with security, self-confidence and self-regulation through OT and spirituality.

What is the one thing you can’t live without?

My Spotify app!

Karen – I could tell just from reading your answers to the questionnaire that you are a compassionate, kind and loving person. Your choice in profession is proof of that. I have a son with emotional regulation challenges. I don’t know if I mentioned that during our little brunch time. But people like you are SO IMPORTANT to parents like me. We need you. So thank you for choosing to work with kids like my son to give them the tools to grow up to be successful adults.

I wish you the absolute best and can’t wait for you to e-mail me to let me know that you’ve found your person!!

“Such is life”

James and I had to reschedule his dating profile date to a week later. But I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. And sure enough, I got sick that day and so it worked out for everyone.

When we started our session James wasn’t sure if I would be able to get any good pics of him. He mentioned not really having any good pictures of himself. I found that shocking! And also, challenge accepted 😏

“It’s now or Never..to get your dating profile photos done”

I didn’t really realize it during our dating profile shoot, but afterwards while I was editing, it hit me! James resembles a young Elvis! Do you see it? But when it comes to music, Elvis didn’t make it to the top of James’ list

What kind of music do you like?  Do you have a favorite band or concert you’ve been to?

Three Days Grace has always been my top band or that’s at least what Spotify says. I also like foo fighters and cage the elephants. Reggae and gym funk is also my top genres at the moment.

Is it Destiny?

James has a bunch of interests from chess to playing with his new adorable kittens. But he also enjoys chilling out with his video games. One of his favorites? Destiny!

James I had a great time at our dating profile session and I can’t wait to hear more about how things work out for you! Best of luck!

From Louisville, KY to NJ to dating photos!

As an online dating photographer I have the pleasure of meeting so many cool and interesting people from all over. Vincent contacted me about doing photos for his dating profile. He was coming from South Jersey and I always like to try and make the location mutually convenient, as much as I can. Also, I saw this as a great opportunity to check out a Cafe that I have been wanting to visit. My son’s friend told me about a place that her mom owns and it looked so damn cute! And the menu? OMG, mouth watering! It’s called Hatch 44 and it’s located about 20 minutes from me in Metuchen. The ONLY downside was that I had JUST went back on keto and it was torture looking at the delicious items on the tables around me! If you’re ever in the area you HAVE to check it out!

But back to my time with Vincent, or Vincenzo, as I was calling him by the end of our time together 😊. As a dating photographer, I have to say, sometimes I notice things AFTER the session while I am editing my Client’s dating photos. And one thing that I kept thinking as I was working on his gallery was that he reminds me of a young Christian Slater! For those of you who aren’t familiar with who that is, you should. Take a look here and let me know what you think!

Farm to Table

Vincent was a pleasure to hang out with and talk to. We talked about growing up in Kentucky, farms and animals and the differences between here and his “home”. And we also talked about our experiences skiing out west, something we both really enjoyed!

Our photography session was shortly after Thanksgiving and he had just gotten back from visiting with his mom. The way he spoke about her and her cooking was so sweet. His eyes lit up and you could just see the love he has for her. He told me about her home cooking and how delicious it is!

So as I mentioned, Vincent and I met up at the cafe and shared some conversation while we sipped coffee and hot chocolate. He even had an empanada that looked delicious, but…keto 😭 He was a joy to converse with and radiated positive energy and joy. He loves skiing, hiking and video games. One of his faves is Sonic, which I played ALL THE TIME when I was younger. Also, he is a genuinely nice and interesting guy. I’ll share a little bit about him here:

Do you have any hobbies?

Hiking, skiing, kayaking, camping, history, coding, gaming, anime.

What brings you joy?

Long days at the museum or in the mountains. Spending time with friends and family. Good food.

What is your ideal date?

A day hiking while swapping stories, followed by some fancy food, then video games or TV.

What are the 3 most important things you’re looking for in a partner?

  • Open mindedness
  • Energy
  • Common interests

Who is your hero and why?

It was my grandfather. Great academic and vocation success as doctor; successful marriage of nearly 60 years; involved with charity throughout life; amazing father and grandfather.

What is the one thing you can’t live without?

Cheese

Here are the photos that we created together! And Vincenzo, I hope you find the love that you so much deserve to have! And he’s not in a rush, he is patient and has no problem waiting for the right one to come along! He even took the time to leave me a 5 star google review 😊🫶🏻 Thanks, Vincent!!

Lessons in Chemistry – or dating pictures

I had a blast with Mimi at her Dating Profile session a couple of weeks ago! We met up at a spot in Cranford, NJ that I had never been to. And it did NOT DISAPPOINT! We treated ourselves to coffee, tea and some danishes (cheese and almond…OMG!)! Lokal Coffee & Co is on Miln Street just on the outskirts of the downtown area and conveniently located with ample parking. I am a big fan of Moody and they have an amazing mural on the wall that added the perfect amount of interest to our profile pics!

Mimi is smart, funny, adorable and FUN! I usually have my Clients bring some “props” to our shoot and Mimi brought the coolest little foldup bike that fits right in her car! I had never seen one of these before and it is a must for someone who lives in a city and likes to bike! All about the space saving!

Mimi doesn’t have any pets, but she loves dogs and “tolerates cats” HAHA! One of my favorite answers from Mimi’s questionnaire was in response to my question asking “what brings you joy?”. Mimi answered:

Seeing unadulterated, of-the-moment joy in other people, or animals, like when smiles spread across the faces of young children at my antics, or watching off-leashed dogs chasing after balls. Their joy is so infectious that I can’t help but be joyful as well.

Mimi

Another question I ask on my questionnaires is “who is your hero and why”. These answers always get me. Mimi answered that her hero was…

Nelson Mandela: for how he led his country and his people (black and white) out of apartheid (with minimal violence) and into fully representative democratic elections; and for retiring from the South African presidency after one term.

Mimi

There are so many great qualities Mimi has to offer, but if you want to know more, you’ll just have to ask her yourself! I promise you’ll have fun with her! Here are some of the pics from our session. You can find more of my dating profile sessions here.

“Jersey Girl for LIFE!”

dating profile photographer nj

Time is once again getting away from me and I am realizing that I haven’t blogged about some of the best shoots I’ve had this Summer! The dating profile session I did with Ali was nothing short of AWESOME!

When Ali first reached out to me she was on the fence about doing a dating profile session. I get it. Believe me I do! Would we be able to get enough variety, could we capture her personality, could we REALLY get enough material in the one hour session to yield 5 unique images that are included in the package? My answer is always a resounding YES!

Questionnaires

I think part of this can be credited to the questionnaire that my Clients fill out. I don’t know what it is, but I really find it helps me connect with the individual and almost know them personally before we even meet. The questions I ask aren’t only for MY benefit, but I think they help get my dating peeps in the right mindset and remembering who THEY are and not so much who they want to meet. I think that’s really important! We all have something to offer and we need to remember that. But it also helps us to come up with outfit ideas and “props” for the shoot. These are simple things that can really create a completely different look and feel!

When Ali and I first spoke she mentioned wanting to give 80’s vibes in her dating profile. I loved it and I had the best idea! Let’s turn one of the images into a polaroid with some cool prism like colors overlaid on it! I knew right away we were on the same page! And that was confirmed once again when I read her answers to the questionnaire. She is a really freakin’ cool girl!

Ali and I originally planned on meeting at Van Gogh’s Ear in Union only to find out the day of that it was CLOSED! But, we go with the flow and we pivot! PIVOT!!! (Friends reference ;)) And I really believe that these things do happen for a reason and when you go with the flow, it all works out in the end! We ended up at a cute little spot in Westfield called Reeve’s Smoothie Cafe. We got the Berry Betsy and it was delicious!!

So let’s get right into it! Here is a little bit more about Ali <3

Do you have any hobbies?

I enjoy gardening, playing chess, dancing, running, checking out new restaurants/going cruising in the car.

What are the 3 most important things you’re looking for in a partner?

(Ali listed five LOL!)

  1. Fun
  2. Kind
  3. Good conversationalist.
  4. Loves/ed his mother.
  5. Sense of Humor

Favorite book? (this was a good one…she listed some of my own personal favorites.)

I have a couple books I enjoyed reading. The Alchemist, The old man and the sea, The Four agreements.

What’s the one thing you can’t live without?

Coffee and hugs!

So yeah, now you can see why I think Ali is so cool! One of my favorite answers she gave was whether or not she has any strange or unique talents. She made me promise that I wouldn’t include her answer here…so if you want to know what it is, I guess you’ll just have to meet Alide for yourself! HAHA!

Ali – I had so much fun gettting to know you! I know that you will meet someone who is worthy of you because you are true to yourself! Best of luck!! XOXO

A Dating Session with Howard in Westfield NJ

“There is a saying: Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.”

I heard from Howard today and realized that tomorrow will be ONE YEAR since we did his dating profile session! And he also just celebrated his ONE YEAR dating anniversary! If you are saying “wait, that doesn’t make sense. How did he have a one year dating anniversary BEFORE the one year anniversary of his dating shoot”, then you’re right! It doesn’t really add up!

A gift to yourself

But let me explain…Howard and I scheduled his shoot when he was still doing the online dating thing. In fact I think we started talking about scheduling something about 2-3 weeks before our scheduled shoot date. And when he showed up on the day of our session he confided in me that he had started dating a woman that he really liked. But you know what? That’s the thing about these shoots! When people contact me about dating profile sessions, what they have in mind is getting some good shots that they can use for their online dating profile.

But every single time they leave with much more than that. These sessions are a confidence booster. It is an amazing feeling to have someone (me) completely excited about capturing YOU! Like the REAL you! Genuine and true and really having your personality shine through. And even though Howard had a really good feeling about the woman he had just started seeing, he went forward with our session. Because this was not just an investment in his dating game, but an investment in HIMSELF! And we had a great time!

I could write all about Howard and his likes and dislikes, but really I’m just super happy that he is still with the woman he met over a year ago. Because ultimately my goal for these sessions is to help people find love. And whether these pics helped with that or not is not important. But that he is happy and in a committed relationship, that’s what makes me happy.

Here are some shots from our shoot almost a year ago!
