Welcoming Baby Ava: A Heartfelt Newborn and Sibling Session
This past Sunday, I had the pleasure of welcoming a sweet family of four to the studio to capture some precious first moments with Baby Ava.
Of course, a newborn session is never just about the baby—it’s about the whole family dynamic shifting. Big sister Ashley was such a little doll! At two and a half, she is a total cutie, wonderfully silly, and a huge fan of “Baby Shark” and FaceTime (LOL!). I can already tell she is going to be a massive help to Mom and Dad and the ultimate “Super Big Sister” to Ava.
The Magic (and Chaos) of Two Years Apart
My own boys are exactly two years apart—to the day!—so seeing a similar age difference always brings a smile to my face.
As a newborn and sibling photographer in NJ, I feel like I have this little secret. I know exactly what the next seven years will look like for them raising two kids so close together. And I smile because, let’s be real: it is HARD! But more importantly? It is so incredibly wonderful. Being a mom is a constant tug-of-war between the struggle and the joy, and I am so grateful to bear witness to families on this journey.
Riding the Waves of Change
Life is funny like that. Just when we get used to a routine, a big change happens. Sometimes we can control it, and sometimes we can’t—we just have to ride the wave, bend, adjust, and grow.
Everything changes when a second baby arrives, and capturing that transition is exactly why I love being a lifestyle newborn photographer. Seeing the bond between a toddler and their new sibling is one of those “life” moments that deserves to be documented as art.

But let’s get back to the star of the show! Isn’t Ava just the sweetest little thing? I am a sucker for a good baby yawn—there is just nothing like it.
